The Mushroom Ecosystem (MES) is the best AUTO-HUMIDITY device for home growing seen in years. Because the MES is able to sustain high humidity and air exchange we are able to create very large mushrooms and yield.
Here is an outline of the tech.
I. Mix 1 part Peroxide (Wal-Mart ~ First Aid) w/ 10 parts Spring Water. Put about 1/2 inch of DRIED Perlite (Wal-Mart ~ Gardening) on the bottom of the Growing Chamber (Comes with MES). Pour the Peroxide / Spring Water mix onto the Perlite. Keep adding the Peroxide / Spring Water mix until the Perlite can no longer absorb it and there is about a 1/4" of standing water on the bottom of the chamber. Do not pour so much that the Perlite starts floating upward.
II. Get your colonized grain and pour at least 1" high onto the Perlite. Wipe down a metal spoon with 71% or 90% Rubbing Alcohol (Wal-Mart ~ First Aid) and carefully smooth it out evenly.
III. Next you will need Course or Medium Grade Vermiculite (Wal-Mart ~ Gardening) and get it nice and wet with Spring Water. Put it into a microwave safe dish and nuke it until it is steaming hot! And then...do it for another 30 seconds. Allow to cool to room temperature.
It would be good if you would have the Vermiculite ready BEFORE you started the technique.
Wipe
down a metal spoon with 71% or 90% Rubbing Alcohol (Wal-Mart ~ First Aid) and
carefully spoon in about 1" of Vermiculite directly onto the Colonized Grain and
smooth it out VERY GENTLY with the same spoon. Place the lid on the
chamber and it is time to turn on the MES!
Plug the pump directly into the electrical outlet.
Plug the MES into a timer set to 5 minutes on and about 2:55 minutes off.
In about 4-6 days you will notice Mycelium poking through.

About 10 days into the cycle mushrooms should start popping up!

MES - What do I need to us the MES?
The MES comes with one growing chamber (you
supply the timer).
IF YOU DO NOT PURCHASE A KIT....you would have to invest in the Jars,
grain, Perlite, Vermiculite and a pressure cooker. ALL CAN
BE FOUND AT WAL-MART AND ANY GOOD PLANT NURSERY
Also...you would have to purchase the spore syringe as well.
You are to inject the spores into the jars and allow the
spores to colonize the grain. You will see WHITE mycelium growing throughout the
grain. One week after you inject you are to gently turn the grain, mixing the
small amount of grain that has already be colonized, so that the colonized grain
can mix with the un-colonized grain. This will speed up the process.
After full colonization...you are ready for the MES. Make sure you have at least
5-7 quart jars of clean mycelium to place in the MES Growing Chamber.
