Welcome to the
Keepers Brew
on-line directions.
If you have the MGK or the Kit A/B
you are able to do the '
Spore Drop' technique. Make sure you order the 'powder form' of
the Brew! The Spore Drop technique is over 10x's more concentrated being
able to inoculate over 1000 INSERTS!!!!
Materials Needed:
Oven or Glove Box
Alcohol + Cotton Ball
Clean piece of Masking Tape
Step #1
Preheat your oven to 100F. Yes...that's what I said. What you are
going to do is place the jar inside your oven BEFORE Step #4. This will
cause heat to rise out of your oven along with it any contaminates that
might be floating in the air just waiting to cause havoc to the Brew.
DO NOT COOK THE BREW!!
JUST PREHEAT YOUR OVEN ONLY!!!
Step #2
Take the Brew jar and wipe the lid and tape clean with 70%-91% alcohol.
Step #3
Place your finger on the tape and SWIRL it for about 60 seconds (note the marble
that helps with this procedure). This
will, in most cases, cause a negative pressure within the jar so that when you pull off
the tape the air within the jar will blow outward. This will help insure that
no contamination enters the jar.
Step
#4
MAKE SURE YOU GENTLY SHAKE THE SYRINGE FOR A FEW MINUTES TO
RELEASE ANY SPORES THAT MAY BE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF YOUR SPORE SYRINGE BEFORE CONTINUING.
Do not concern yourself if a small amount of spore solution splashes out and
lands on the green cap that covers the needle. As long as you use the solution
NOW it will not be a problem.
Step #5
Now place the jar on the oven rack (within your oven as much as possible).
Take off the green protector that covers the needle and wipe the needle clean with at least 70%-91% rubbing alcohol.
VERY QUICKLY lift the tape away from the hole
and insert the spore syringe needle. This should
temporally 'plug-up' the hole
until you squeeze all of the spores into the Brew.
Step #6
Inject at least 10-12cc of spore solution into the Brew and
VERY QUICKLY lift the syringe and place a clean piece of Masking Tape over the hole of the jar.
Take the Brew out of the oven and...PLACE JAR BACK INTO A SANDWICH ZIPLOC
BAGGIE.
Step #7
Place your index finger over the tape that is covering the hole and gently 'swirl' the Brew three to four times a day
(Note: Marble at the bottom of the jar will help with this process). You
are to do this for the next 5 days.
If you have a Water Incubator....use
it! Set the temp. to 86F and place the Brew within for only 5 days.
Make sure you still gently 'swirl' the Brew at least three to four times a day.
Note: The more often you 'swirl' the spores the faster they will open and spread throughout
the Keepers Brew solution. One customer suggest placing the brew on the
Dryer Machine when you do the laundry. Another person placed the jar into
a Can Holder/Cooler and takes it with him whenever he drives.
Step #8
After 5 days it will be time to use the 'Keepers Brew'
solution!
Follow Step 1-3 and suck up one cc for every 1/2 pint jar you want to
inoculate.
You are to place the syringe needle against the inside of the Brew and 'tip' the
jars so you can easily suck-up the solution (Brew)
Make sure you have a STERILE syringe and needle when doing
this step. It is best to use a NEW
syringe and needle whenever possible. You should have received one
with your initial purchase of the Brew. If you would like to reuse
a syringe....click here for directions.
Note: If you have a Poor Boys Glove Box from
Keepers Kit A or B you should definitely do all steps within it. YOU WILL
NOT NEED TO USE A OVEN! If you do not have a Poor
Boys glove box then I do suggest you consider the purchases of one to insure
a clean and non-contaminated area for all processing. THIS DOES NOT MEAN
THAT YOU MUST HAVE ONE. But, contamination is possible if not done VERY
quickly or in a sterile environment of your oven.
You can store Keepers' Brew in the refrigerator for
many months!
As long as the Brew does not become contaminated you can re-order Keepers Brew
and inject a full 12cc syringe of the old Brew into a new Brew and begin the
process all over again!
